The Center for Vision Loss is an independent nonprofit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status that is funded through several critical sources. We provide services at little or no cost to our clients and constituents.
Our Annual Fund benefits all agency operations. Because Annual Fund gifts are not restricted, they provide us the flexibility to allocate resources strategically and quickly to meet growing and changing needs. The Annual Fund also includes donor-designated gifts from United Way campaign contributors.
Service Contracts and Product Fees
We receive service funding through contracts with the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (PAB), the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services (BBVS), the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services, and the Monroe County Human Services Development Fund. We also receive revenue through the sales of client transportation tickets, corrective devices, and assistive technologies. We accept payments from all major insurance carriers.
Special Event Proceeds
We hold special events in the Lehigh Valley and Monroe County, including our Songs4Sight concert, and raise funds through our participation in the annual Lehigh Valley Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community.
C. Well Sweepstakes
We hold an annual C. Well Sweepstakes with monthly drawings. Revenue is drawn from ticket payments, returned prizes, and additional donations.
Lions Clubs are an indelible part of our history and an indispensable part of our continued impact. We trace our existence to 1928 when Lions Clubs formed two agencies in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Lions Clubs in Lehigh, Northampton, and Monroe counties continue to provide extensive support through our annual Lions Needs Campaign.
Corporate and Foundation Grants
We receive grants each year from regional and national corporations and foundations, which support our operations and our services.
United Way Allocations
The Center for Vision Loss Endowment Foundation is an affiliated nonprofit organization with its own 501(c)(3) status and Board of Directors. Its mission is to support our agency’s activities. The foundation provides an allocation annually to support our operations budget.
Bequests and Legacies
We receive gifts from personal estates regularly. Up to $10,000 from each bequest benefits our operations and any additional funds are transferred to our affiliated Center for Vision Loss Endowment Foundation.
